Is Fear Keeping You from Growing Your Faith?
Are you afraid of what might happen if you grow closer to God?

I don’t know about you, but I feel anxiety rise at the thought of making a cold phone call. The fear quickly takes over, and I shut down. I began to make valid excuses. I decided to delay the call. I transferred it to next week on my calendar. I denied that I was afraid. I have repeated this same cycle when it comes to growing my faith. Have you let fear keep you from growing your faith?
What about you?
These questions run through my mind as a constant recording of things that will happen, might happen, or could happen. The only way to get through this is to not worry about anything and everything related to the cycle.
What if I grow closer to God and people expect me to do things I am afraid to do?
What if I grow in my faith, but I can’t keep the momentum going as I slip back into old habits? What if I make a mistake?
What if it is too hard?
What if everyone finds out about when I did those crazy things?
Fear can fill the mind with all of these doubts.
God can take them away. Read that again, please.
Fear comes while hiding layers of disguises. Maybe it is not fear you are feeling, but shame. Could it even be guilt? Are you looking for validation or a pat on the back? Do you experience a hint of perfectionism? Is experiencing shame from a ghost of the past stopping you in the present? Often it’s easier to call that overwhelming anxiety fear rather than face what it truly is for you.
The courage that God provides can conquer every layer of fear. The courage that God provides will change your life from just living to living abundantly.
Step one in building your faith is to believe that God will do what he says he will do.
You have the power from God to face fear and all its aliases. Take the first step to draw closer to him. Take the first step to grow your faith. Just ask.
It really is that simple.
It really is that beautiful.
Isaiah 41:10:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Dear Cindy
I am your previous student from February “Who Am I” BeADisciple micro course.
Your website is simply inviting. Your logo looks perfect with all that I see. When you asked us to critique your logo I suggested making it more bold. I see why you didn’t. The softness of the logo reflects the entire site; it all fits like a family of peace inviting us to come and see and find out what a mighty God we have. I’m so glad I listened to God’s prompting to take that course and find out there’s more in store each week.
Have you written your memoir? Your bio of sorts captures my interest and I want to know more. I’ll go back and read the description of your other books and see if one of them is a memoir.
I am in that vicious cycle of being all things to all people in my church. I’ve finally had enough and soon will make a change before I decide to run away which would be a big mistake.
Thank you for your invitation to heal.

PS Hope that great grandaughter of yours is thriving and bringing your family joy.
